Tryllian introduces the latest release of the Agent Development Kit (ADK), a mobile component-based development platform that allows you to build reliable and scalable industrial strength applications. The ADK features dynamic tasking, JXTA-based P2P architecture with XML message-based communication that supports FIPA and SOAP, JNDI directory services, using a reliable, lightweight runtime environment based on Java. These allow Java Developers to easily build, deploy and manage secure, large-scale distributed solutions that operate regardless of location, environment or protocol, enabling an adaptive, dynamic response to changes.

Designed and built in 100% Java, XML, and JXTA with modular architecture and a mobile component approach, the platform and associated development tools enable you to develop applications that are:

  • Mobile, dynamically moving between systems, carrying code and data.
  • Autonomous, adaptive and proactive, carrying out tasks independently and off-line.
  • Support advanced behavior and control, for complex behavior and decision-making.
  • Support rich communication of diverse formats and advanced protocols.

    This provides

  • Platform independence, fitting together heterogeneous environments.
  • Interoperability, within and between different environments, data and processes. Agents can interact with other systems using FIPA, SOAP, JMS, RMI, JDBC, and CORBA. Runtime environment can be automatically discovered and can communicate across firewalls with the integration of JXTA in the ADK.
  • Massive scalability, per platform and in the number of cooperating platforms. Thread pooling allows execution of many thousands of agents simultaneously. Moreover, inactive agents can be transparently swapped into database storage.
  • Adaptability, allowing dynamic change of parts without affecting the whole, supported by advanced version co-existence and version management features.
  • High security, safeguarding corporate infrastructure, yet allowing access across networks. Use of X.509 certificates and secure JXTA permit secure transfer of data and secure execution of code within runtime environments.
  • Reliability through hot backup and recovery and snapshotting of agent states. Management via SNMP.

    On an application level, these characteristics allow you to easily build, deploy and manage large-scale distributed solutions that operate regardless of location, environment or protocol and which respond dynamically to change.

    The ADK runs on all operating systems featuring a Java Standard Edition 1.3 Runtime Environment. The ADK is available for commercial license or for free evaluation to educational institutions under the research license program.
